litfilms – Literature Film Festival Münster 2020 - Call for Residency

Published on

The first edition of litfilms - Literatur Film Festival Münster will take place in autumn 2020. The concept of the two successful poetry film festivals 2016 and 2018 has been further developed to highlight the diverse relationships between the various genres of literature and the medium of film.

The festival will open up to the city of Münster and the surrounding area and include established literary locations. The programme will be a hybrid between workshop and festival. Among other things, a four-month residency will offer writers and filmmakers time, space and budget to work together.

--- Deadline for applications is 16 February 2020 --- See below for the call for applications ---

The two scholarship holders (filmmaker*in & author*in) will explore our region starting in summer 2020 and present their results at the festival in October in addition to the film competition, readings and performances.

The guest country in 2020 is multi-ethnic Canada with its rich film and literary culture. The theme for 2020 is: in-between spaces.

Call for Residency 2020

Period: Four months, May to September inclusive

Location: Two months in the city of Münster, two months in the country around Münster

Remuneration: 1.500€ monthy plus accommodation, workplace and travel expenses

Residency Programme: We will bring together a writer and a filmmaker for a period of four months to explore the "in-between" spaces of city and country in an artistic cooperation and let their research and observations create something unique – an artistic work that moves in the in-between space of literature and film. The work does not have to be completed in its entirety during the residency period, but should at least be presented and discussed as a work in progress in a larger setting at the end of the festival (mid-October 2020). Residents will receive artistic freedom as well as organizational and technical support from the festival and the Filmwerkstatt Münster for their work(s). They are expected to mainly work in the area yet full-time presence is not required. In addition to their own work, they are offered to co-curate parts of the festival to establish a link between their work and the festival program.

There is no age limit. However, the training or studies should have been completed.

The application can be informal and should have the following contents:
